Meesha Harper

Meesha HarperNurse Meesha did work experience at MVH in 2005 and joined the practice as a veterinary nurse in March 2007, since we couldn’t do without her. She grew up on King Island and was the pet-sitter for the island. She loves being a vet nurse as she loves the opportunity to work with animals and help them recover from anaesthesia, illness and injury. She says "it is such a thrill to know that you have saved an animal's life!"

Meesha came over from King Island; a small island (part of Tasmania) in the middle of the Bass Straight.  When she was growing up, she was always rescuing baby wild life and caring for them until they were fit for survival in the wild.  At the age of 12 she had a pademelon joey called "Joey" which she reared and sent to Tasmania to a wildlife park where they would eventually release them to the wild.  Then at the age of 16 she had another wallaby joey named "Scrappy" whom she had for around 6 months from hardly any hair to lots of hair.  He was then given to a carer who releases them on her property.  He is now 5 years old and has 3 generations of joeys.

She left the island in 2004 to complete year 11 in Ballarat and then to persue a career in Veterinary Nursing.

During her stay in Ballarat she worked in horse racing stables as a part of her equine studies course.

As Meesha is a keen horse rider, she is always looking forward to her next visit back home where she loves to ride her horse Whisper; a buckskin Connemara cross Quarter Horse mare.

She now lives in Melbourne with her partner Aaden and their beautiful dog Buddy, who is a 2 year old Flat Coated Retriever.

She and Buddy have completed their Tail waggers certificate at South Side dog school, 3 levels in canine freestyle (doggy dancing) at Melbourne canine freestyle and various other dog training levels.  She enjoys tricks training with Buddy and would love to participate in agility one day.
