Tabitha Osztreicher

Tabitha started at MVH in July 2009 and she has been a Veterinary Nurse for 10 years. Her passions are split between animals and with her art. The animals she loves are usually the exotic ones that you don’t often see. These range from snakes to exotic birds and she has an interest in arachnids, especially bird-eating spiders!

After doing Vet nursing for a few years in Melbourne, Tabitha decided to head to Alice Springs to work as a reptile handler. This involved handling venomous snakes to friendly pythons and lizards and performing live reptile displays. The biggest highlight was learning how to maintain and feed a 3.6 meter saltwater crocodile! After that she travelled to Far North Queensland and attained a degree in Graphic Design at James Cook University in Townsville.

Tabitha likes being a vet nurse as the role is challenging and varied, with no two days ever being the same. Her menagerie consists of Bec the thoroughbred, two dogs named Monte and Chickpea, Alexandrine parrots named Chopper and Kaydee, Hutch the rabbit, and lots of Australian native fish and cichlids, plus Spinderella the bird-eating spider. She competes in navigation and long distance horse riding on top of Bec.

Her other interests include teaching art, painting pet portraits, cartooning, Mixed Martial Arts, and kettlebell training.
